Private tour that during june and july of Expo 2015 will take you to discover the excellent products of Valpolicella. The wines of Tenuta Badin Agricola BIXIO PODERI and the culinary delights of Locanda Badin.
The ‘Badin Agricultural Company’ owned by the Bixio Family, is located in the village of Badin. in the heart of the classical area of Valpolicella. Surrounded by vineyards in one of the most beautiful corners of of this beautiful valley.

Bixio family manages directly the three hectares of vineyards with hard work, passion and love for this land surrounded by a relaxing panorama of vineyards, cherry trees and lush vegetation. a view that changes with the passing of the seasons but always offering the beautiful colours of nature.

The complex of Badin has a classic XV century structure in closed court . In the loft, in a fresh and ventilated environment, the healthiest grapes are dried in wooden cases inside the loft from the harvest till the end of January or the beginning of February.

You can meet and know the Azienda Agricola Bixio and the Tenuta Badin led by an expert who will guide you through the vineyards and the ageing cellars. It will be explained how is the vine growing and wine-making and, finally, the best ageing techniques to get the famous red wines that identify the “Valpolicella” in the world.

The visit will end with a rich tasting of Bixio wines and local food.

The family Bixio history dates back to 1866 in Soave, a small village near Verona. A high rank military from Genoa, named Nino Bixio, was fighting at the time alongside Garibaldi in the battle of Custoza, near Verona, on 24th June.1866. After the glorious battle he met and entertained a relationship with a local noble women that gave him a child, named Alfonso who later managed to acquire some vineyards in the area that today is the classic-area of Soave allowing four generations to cultivate that very same piece of land. This is why the Bixio family has gained considerable experience in the local wine-growing traditions.Thanks to the experience of Ottavio Bixio, the founder, the family wine-making tradition has been passed down with passion and love to his children and today the professional preparation of the eldest Emilio Bixio, oenologist and winemaker, and the engagement of the whole family that Is busy in every business sectors, has allowed our wines to be at excellent levels in the international wine panorama.

The Bixio Produttori winery is equipped with the most advanced technology for production, vinification, bottling and storage technology, in order to improve the authenticity of its wines and to offer the best high level of their quality while keeping the rule of good quality / price ratio.

Each step of production is carefully supervised with the utmost respect for the wine thanks to the latest technologies such as low-temperature controlled fermentation and bottling cold sterile environment .

We sell abroad more than 80% of our production. The most important markets are currently Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, USA, Eastern Europe and China.

We sell our wines under our brand name BIXIO but also under other trademarks such as Desmontà', Vecchia Storia, Sottoriva Antica, Elisabet.
