Today the agriculture of the Venetian territory is mainly mechanized, with the result that the productivity level is notable internationally, while the percentage of labour is among the lowest in Italy.
The sector is ever more mechanized and specialized in the various productions; to be more competitive, farming companies group together increasing their area.
The region detains, with a wide margin of superiority, a leading position in the production of corn (one quarter of the national total), which is, by the way, a typical plantation of the Veneto, and even more in the production of soya (nearly half), which is, on the contrary, of recent introduction.
Moderate is the supply of wheat. Horticulture and fruit tree cultivation assume a very important role. Viticulture is widely spread in the whole hillside area and it provides internationally renowned wines.
