FESTIVAL DELLE BASSE Culture and taste in the lands of water.
Many appointments with authors, live concerts, shows and entertainment for children!
To rediscover the heritage of our territory and the local culinary excellence

South of the province of Padua, between the Euganean Hills and the Adige River, there is still a part of the untouched countryside, where time seems to flow more slowly and where land marks, through colours and scents, the passage of the seasons. These territories, crossed by a dense network of waterways and dotted with old churches and monasteries, patrician villas and villages, are still able to tell their age-old culture and history. Here, in the former Monastery of San Salvaro in Urbana (PD)- building from the eleventh century AD, which now houses the Museum of the Ancient Streets – it takes place 5 to 7 June 2015, the first edition of the “Festival delle Basse”.

The Festival aims to be a moment of encounter and deepening, but also an opportunity to discover some little gems of artistic and historical heritage of the territories that are in these areas, south of the provinces of Padua, Verona and Vicenza, historically identified as “low”. The event consists of three days of meetings with authors, concert, shows and workshops, which are the setting chefs and local producers that show the excellences of proximity food and wine.

It starts Friday, June 5th , with a series of initiatives in pursuit of taste and territorial promotion. The protagonists are the producers and chefs called to interpret the local raw materials in a variety of dishes that combine quality and innovation, accompanying the audience on a walk through the history and the traditions of these places. On stage, to conduct the evening, Federico Quaranta – known host of the radio program “Decanter” broadcast on Radio 2 Rai and the “Linea Verde Orizzonti” program on Rai 1 – along with the versatile Andy Luotto.

On Saturday, June 6th, the appointment is from the afternoon with Roberto Corradi, writer and comedian, presenting “Il libro coniglio” – an entertaining literary born with the listeners of the worship transmission of Radio 2 Rai, “Il Ruggito del Coniglio” – and, following with the photographer and director Simone Falso and the presentation of the project “FuoriRotta”, of which he is co-founder along with Matteo Calore and the director Andrea Segre.

At 21, moreover, is the music time with “Ex Live” by Cristiano Godano – known leader of “Marlene Kuntz” – and Giancarlo Onorato, a concert of great emotional intensity and sound energy which, starting from the pages of the novel by Onorato, brings live songs by internal artists. After that, the musicians Vincenzo Vasi and Valeria Sturba present “OoopopoiooO” an evocative musical project with Theremin, vocals, violin and electronics, between pop and sonic experimentation.

Closes the evening the theatrical performance “Habitusmali”, born by the brainchild of director Matteo Tarasco and the result of a workshop lasting three days housed inside the Museum, which involves a group of 14 actresses.

Opens the afternoon of Sunday, June 7th, the show for young and old “Io sono un ladro di bestiame felice” by Gek Tessaro.
