TOCATÌ International Festival of Street Games The International Festival of Street Games – Tocatì – which has succefully reached its 13th edition, will be back in the streets and squares of the ancient heart of Verona.
Ancient traditions from all over the world, funny and spectacular games, festive and fascinating atmosphere: these are the elements that make the Festival one of the most awaited events in the city, followed by adults and children.
The event is a very good occasion to approach the world of ancient games in a creative way, discovering the pleasure of sharing funny moments outdoor in the very center – on this occasion close to traffic – of one of the most beautiful cities of Italy.
Tocatì has been organized by the association Giochi Antichi in collaboration with Verona Municipality. There are activities, promoted by volunteers and enthusiastic players, which aim to describe and enhance the ancient traditions and habits of their countries, according to the principles of the International Chart of Game of the UNESCO, which states that traditional game is intangible cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Furthermore like every year the Festival hosts the traditions and the game culture of a foreign nation: on this occasion Piazza dei Signori becomes a place where it is possible to get in touch with the landscape beauties and attractions of the hosted country with music, dance and songs.
There are a lot of side activities and events: play areas all around the city center, conferences and narrations with personalities of the international culture world, the exposition “Suoni e Sapori” in Lungadige San Giorgio, where it is possible to listen to live music, tasting wine and gastronomic products of the Italian and European traditions, game workshop for children and the Forum of Game Culture, where the public can interact with players, intellectuals and experts on the themes of game traditions. Other thematic exhibitions and educational tours complete the Festival.
The games are played every day for the public free of charge.
If someone wants to participate personally, they will be involved in the activities by amateurs and volunteers.
A rich programme of street concerts and aperitifs in squares and taverns of the city will animate the Festival in the evenings.
