Arrangement > Waste is an opportunity not to waste: because food is still energy, even as garbage.

WASTE IS AN OPPORTUNITY NOT TO WASTE: BECAUSE FOOD IS STILL ENERGY, EVEN AS GARBAGE. Cividac presents a digital learning course for students of secondary schools, about the production of energy from biomasses.
Expo 2015 is the ideal opportunity to learn how to look at garbage in a different way.

Did you know that from trash you can produce energy, which produces materials, which make machines, which transform the food that we eat to produce more energy and more… garbage? And that that garbage will in turn produce more energy and more materials…?
Cividac, a manufacturer of large thermomechanical products for food processing, is an essential link in this vital chain.
With this lesson/show you will learn (indeed, you’ll teach) how Earth, energy, turbine and… pooh are elements of the same wonderful jigsaw: our planet.
The course will explain the basic principles of the industrial processes to produce energy from waste and biomasses to students of secondary schools,
Starting from the basic requirements (types of waste and methods of energy production), and thanks to a workshop performed by professional actors, the students will discover, in a simple and entertaining way:
- How a turbine works
- How the ORC cycle works (that’s when wood or vegetables waste is burnt, heating a fluid - water or oil – and thus obtaining steam, which is pressurized and puts a turbine in   motion. The spin of the turbine produces electricity).
- How the CHP cycle works (which takes place inside reactors where the organic material is eaten by bacteria, producing biogas that we can use in many ways. For example     to heat water, which becomes steam and then electricity).

The course is developed and supported by tools such as:

- A dedicated minisite, where it’s possible to download learning materials and information.
- Reference materials and gadgets (posters, pins, stickers) to be used in the classroom.
- An explanatory video.
- The opportunity to organize the workshop with Cividac’s testimonials directly at your school.
- A tour at the Cividac plant where two fundamental elements to transform energy are produced: turbines and heat exchangers.
The strength of this event/project, which was specifically designed for Expo 2015 in Milan, is in the way Cividac’s knowledge integrates with the curricula of secondary schools. Students will learn by actively participating to the learning process, in a motivating and entertaining way.
Finally, the project also puts together, in a formative framework, all the main themes of the Expo: energy, food, life, production.

The workshops will take place in all participating schools in the Veneto region and/or at Cividac’s premises (also for a general audience) where an educational tour to the production plant will also be organized.
