The history of Parc Hotels Italia starts with Germano Chincherini. He was born in Limone sul Garda in 1937, where he laid the foundations of his personal success starting from scratch, as it often happens. At the end of the Fifties, when he was barely in his twenties, he started to run a small hotel; in his spare time, he managed to sell lemons carrying them in a traditional local cart in the streets of his home town.
During the same years, a lucky encounter let him make the most of his own potential. A Danish pastor and owner of the travel agency Tjæreborg envisaged the potential of mass tourism in Italy; consequently, he decided to support the young and promising Germano, who thus could set up his own first big hotel. Here came Chincherini Hotels.
In the Sixties and Seventies, Chincherini Hotels expanded itself so that it owned 58 hotels (proprietary or leased), located throughout Italy: Dolomites, Mount Bondone, Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore, Liguria, Rome, Ischia and Sicily.
In the Eighties, when some changes took place in the tourist industry, Germano Chincherini decided to restructure the company: some hotels were sold, especially those who were leased, others were renovated (mainly in Lake Garda and Sicily). This changes led to the creation of Parc Hotels Italia.
The newly-created company started a new corporate course. New hotels were built, which were characterized by a flair for detail and a large hospitality capacity, with a style blending together tradition and modernity. Their management was now centralized and not entrusted anymore to trustworthy aides. A travel agency was created along with booking offices, centralized storehouses, cost-management and programming offices. A building department was established to renovate the existing hotels or build new ones.
In the Nineties, after one of his many travels, his passion for Kenya burst. He made friends with Father Angelo, a missionary who convinced him to help the local population.
In 2000, Germano Chincherini unexpectedly passed away in Sicily, while he was on a business trip. He left some ideas unfinished, which would be carried out by his wife Helena and his most trustworthy aides: the Caesar Palace Hotel in Giardini Naxos (Messina) and the Parc Hotel Paradiso & Golf Resort in Peschiera del Garda (Verona).
In 2001, his wife created a non-profit organization, the Germano Chincherini Foundation, to support the underprivileged people of Kenya and other emerging countries.
In 2004, a new hotel was inaugurated, the Parc Hotel Germano in Bardolino (Verona), which his wife wanted to name after him.
Parc Hotels Italia operates mainly in the tourism industry. The tourist towns where its hotels are located (Peschiera del Garda, Bardolino, Limone sul Garda, Taormina, Letojanni, Giardini Naxos) are internationally renowned for their natural and cultural beauties.
The facilities and services of the hotels are designed to provide guests with a relaxing and funny experience. The hotels that offer an all-inclusive treatment, designed mainly for families, ensure a great relaxation at a favourable price. The residential hotels in Peschiera and Bardolino let guests freely organize their holiday.
Some hotels also have wellness centres, sporting centres, à la carte restaurants open to non-guests, and well-equipped congress centres.
