ROUTES THROUGH THE NATURAL PARK OF THE AMPEZZO DOLOMITES Trekking in the Cortina d'Ampezzo Natural Park and visit to Malga Ra Stua. Nature is the most precious of all assets, and Cortina protects it through millennial institutions.
Walking inside the Natural Park bestows on you a sense of immersion in nature, plunging you into a sensorial glory of colours, sounds and scents. The Natural Park is synonymous with nature, trekking and health, but also with tradition, culture, history and values.
The Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites is one of Cortina's most priceless treasures. Established in 1990, it covers 11,000 hectares to the north of Cortina and is one of the four natural parks in the Veneto Region. It contains a wonderful labyrinth of paths and itineraries of every kind: from walking paths to via ferrata routes, to climbs, mountain-running tracks and mountain bike routes. It is run by an institution called the Regole d'Ampezzo, a body dating back to Roman times, created to protect the area's territory and traditions.
If you visit Cortina, you really can't miss the chance to visit Ra Stua, a truly enchanted spot deep inside the Natural Park.
Here you'll find the Malga Ra Stua, a refuge open all year round, reachable on skis in winter and by foot in summer, or by a coach service. The Malga building, like a ship in a great green sea, at the source of the River Boite, boasts a huge terrace which is ideal for a refreshing pause and an inspiring view.
Cows, horses and donkeys graze tranquilly in the surrounding meadows, but even a brief walk is likely to offer you encounters with wild deer and marmots.
The refuge's cookery is authentically simple, perfectly respecting local tradition. It offers a menu dominated by fresh seasonal ingredients, with all dishes, from starters to dessert, rigorously home-made. Meat comes from nearby farms only.

The visits can be organized all the year long, for lunch, for dinner and for a daily walk, also helped by the naturalistic guides Manuela Conte and Monica Dandrea, and by the alpine guides. Prices: to be decided.
